| Programme
BenefiaciariesTable 4A illustrates the programme beneficiary
categories. While such categorization can be made in different ways using different
permutations and combinations, the different categories represented in the Table account
for looking at beneficiaries that are most emphasized by many NGOs. While working within
the community and village, it is discernable from Table 4A that in the NWFP most NGOs are
working for the categories that deem to represent "community," "women"
and "students." However, very few have programmes that are concerned with
"religious minorities" and "elderly" as separate categories.
However, it is interesting to note that a number of NGOs are working with multi-beneficiaries in all the districts in both urban and rural areas. In NWFP, The division with the highest proportion of "women" as direct beneficiaries is Mardan (84%). The division with the highest proportion of "children" as direct beneficiaries is Bannu (63%). D.I. Khan Division has the highest proportion of "students" as direct beneficiaries (62%). Often "community" is identified as a beneficiary together with "men" or "women". This may seem inconsistent with identification of main beneficiaries because CBOs / NGOs do not consider such groups as distinct categories. This is evident from the figures represented against each division and district in different category columns in Table 4A and taking into account the total number of NGOs in that particular division and district. |
